I think this was a very adequite book to choose in grade 11. It's not like we haven't been subjected to idea's of sex and drugs outside the book anyways, so what is wrong with having it in a more formal and literary form. The book presents ideas that we may have not ever thought about, ideas that are important to ponder.
Well It is a good book for grade 11. Its not like its a bad book, but the only problem is it tends to confuse people so some people may not like the book and just dont bother to read it.
For our age group I don't think the book's context was inappropriate. We all watch 14A movies that have the same kind of sexual or drug material. But I think the complexity of Brave New World was a bit difficult to understand. I found myself getting lost quite a bit. It's definetly not an easy read but more like a textbook.
I think that this novel was a very good choice to study. I don't think it is inappropriate for our level. It is confusing but our level of comprehension skills should be beneficial for this novel. The ideas that this book has gives us a lot to think about and I also think it is good for us to see what the future in thousands and thousands of years could possibly get to. Nina
In my opinion, this book has appropriate content and context for our age bracket. Though there may be ‘explicit’ situations, I’m sure that a mature person would be able to grasp its essence. It’s a good choice because it deals with themes, where most teenagers (in one way or another) could relate to: Relationships, Sex and Drugs. In reading this book, we become open-minded not only with our own lives, but with the society as well. Moreover, I am able to learn effectively by connecting my own perception with others’ interpretations as well.
Well I really don't know the curriculum here in Canada so I am in no position to judge, but this book sometimes confuses me in some scenes and even now i can't picture bernard in my mind. This book was not a bad choice but i think you could have picked another book. One that's less confusing.
this book isn't really appropriate for English 11 however since we divide into to this book we have no choice but to read.in addition this book is ok but not that great in the sense that the book can get confusing at parts.
To be honest, I find this book really interesting. I know this book contains sexual contents, drugs, and etc. But this book relates to our real lives, it changes the way we think. I know some people are immature that they can't handle it. We are young adults, and so this book is not overwhelming for us. I think this book was an excellent choice for our class. Instead of reading someone's writting. We are reading that can be compared to our daily lives.
I don’t think that Brave New World is inappropriate at all. It may contain some sexually suggestive content, but the book doesn’t only revolve on it. There are still other important matters that we should consider, like the importance of values and freedom of oneself. Also, as young adults, we should already be mature enough to overlook the real intendment of Huxley beyond those sexual scenes. I think that this book was a good choice because it helps us realize that imperfections are what make us a stronger person. Even though we live in a world full of imperfections, it’s that that bestows us a life worth-living.
This book is the best for English 11. First time when I read 'Brave New World' I confused so much; I did't know what's going on this book. There were five classes, sexual life with young children and eating drug anytime. These things made me so difficult to undertand. However, when I knew the main story of this book, I realized that the author of this book was genius! Now, I really enjoy to read and I predict that the real world will be as same as the society of Brave New World. This book makes me shudder and surprise as I read; how could author write this book in 1932?
i think this book was a bad choice for this class. It wouldve been better if this book was assigned to the English honors class but for this class not a good pick. I can handle it but you need everyones help to better understand the book. Becuase if for example only you know the book alittle bit and the majority doesnt you cant realli get much out of itt
It was appropriate for grade 11 because we learned how to judge what is right and wrong. The book made me realize how important it is to have individual freedom and choice in my life. Also, I'm now aware of a nightmarish future that this world might become. Although the story requires a higher level of understandings, Huxley was brilliant enough to show the negative impact of technology and government.
