Discussion Question - Macbeth

I forgot to remind you about this in class, so deadline this week will be Tuesday.

So far (up until midway through Act 3), what is the worst thing that any character does in the play? Defend your answer.

I think it would have to be macbeth. Ofcourse other characters like the witches and lady macbath contribute to it and give him that extra push but Macbeth's ambitions and desires for power make him to do the worst things possible and now he even hired someoen else to do his dirty work for him which is even worse.

“Even when we know what is right, too often we fail to act. More often we grab greedily for the day, letting tomorrow bring what it will, putting off the unpleasant and unpopular.” ~Bernard M. Baruch

The worst thing done is taking and killing one’s soul. Macbeth had to do it. But what’s worse than that is, involving other people to do it for you. Hiring someone else to execute your evil deed is undoubtedly immoral. There may be no evidence of crime seen in Macbeth’s hands, and in the eyes of many. But it’ll be his own conscience; that will haunt him.

The worst thing any character has done in the play so far is murder. Macbeth has murdered because he does have those dark desires and Lady Macbeth has just pushed him into it even more. He is also hiring people to kill for him so that he doesn't have to do it himself anymore. But either way, there definately is blood on his hands and he will not be able to forget the horrible things that he has committed.

When you first think about it, the obvious answer would be Macbeth, for he has committed murder. But in my opinion, Lady Macbeth has committed the worst crime of all. She has manipulated her husband into doing a terrible crime, which shows no love or respect to him.

i think lady macbeth would get the award for the "worst influence" in the play, so far. she leads macbeth , that he commits a murderer. of course he could just refuse to enacts the crime, but her dark and cruel influence and her power on him change the play so significantly, that macbeth might have not done this action without lady macbeth. that´s why she´s doing, in my opinion, the worst thing, so far.

the worst thing is when macbeth kills the two guards of the king they had framed .He knew in his heart that they were not the ones that killd the king but still killed them.

I think the worst thing that a character has done in the play is Macbeth killing the king and the guards because he got what he desired the most but it was a terrible thing he had to do to achieve power and greatness. I also think later ths murder will haunt him forever.

The action of Macbeth hiring killers to make short of Banquo was the worst act thus far. It differs from him killing the king, as not only did he give the effort and nobility to commit the murder by his own hand, but partial responsibility is on Lady Macbeth for the verbal and emotional push. Hiring a killer takes away all respect of ones life, implying that one is not even worth the time to see to it to oneself that the act is committed, thus, this is the most ruthless thing done thus far in the play.

Macbeth became a bad character by the three crazy ladies and did the worst thing. The worst thing was that Macbeth killed Dunkan with a knife to be a king. Actually, he was respected by Dunkan and fought from the enemies for Dunkan, but Macbeth struggled between a bad mind and a good mind. Macbeth chose the bad mind and killed Dunkan.

The worst thing a character did in the play was very brutal and vicious. It was done succesfully by Macbeth. He Killed and murdered duncan "the King" and murdered 2 other innocent guards who were drunk asleep. Thats the worst thing by far done by any character. He only did it because he thougth he'd succed and become the KING. Also there were other characters that were bad as well. One of them Lady Macbeth because wat she did was push Macbeth into all the wrong-doings. Otherwise He wouldnt have done it.

obviously macbeth that killed his own father for his obsession with power and to fulfill the prophecy told by the witches. He also killed banquo and macduff's family which is worse killing innocent people.

The murder of King Duncan is mainly because of the witches at the very start of the play. So,the witches' prophecies are the worst sin in the play. Immediately after hearing the prophecies, Macbeth thinks that he must kill the King Duncan. He relied too much on the vivid hope the witches gave and foolishly started misfortune.
