I see Into the Wild as a love letter to American values (and simultaneously, a cautioning against taking it to extremes) - freedom, westward movement, the open road. It's beautifully shot. What moments were your favourites? Why? What did they make you feel/think of?

My favourite scenes were his encounters with the hippies. It offered a light contrast as introducing him to others who do not follow society yet are not as extremest as him. They help to offer a new outlook on Chris' idea's which I found interesting.
I liked that he did not depend on others. He made his own thing and did what he wanted to do. He should have been more realistic and planned more, but he still could live his own ideas.

the moment he started to go to alaska. liked it because it really started the movie onwards. that part made me think of life as a boring lie given as truth by the government and influenced by the people around us.makes me feel like i wanna do something stupid just to get rid of the boredom.

One of my unforgettable scenes was when Chris burned his belongings without any regret. I would not easily give up my belongings like Chris because they are precious to me. It was also memorable when Ron asked Chris to be his grandson, but Chris told him he would consider it once he returned from Alaska. Ron's tears showed his sincere bond to Chris and foreshadowed that Chris would not return. Into the Wild was a heart warming movie which inspired me to think about the truth of life.
